Fun game, but could use some tweaks
This is a fun game but a misnomer to classify it in the TD (tower defense) genre as description implies since it more akin to an action RPG. I appreciate the diversity of character classes and more importantly the ability to unlock all of them without having to pay additional money or excessive grinding. Although it seems like you can dominate the game with a few character classes, as you play the game more (especially on the Hard difficulty), you’ll discover some nuances that could make older and seemingly weaker classes more valuable.
The UI can certainly use some polish to help enhance the experience. My biggest gripe is that on an iPhone 5s the text and information can be practically illegible at times since it is so small; it feels like an iPad UI that was proportionally scaled down for the iPhone and is way too small. When viewing information about leveling up a character it’s very difficult to read the stats. I like that you can redistribute you stars for upgrades but it’s a bit of a pain to have to redo everything each time, and many of the Hard Challenge levels will need this sort of tweaking. There are also some errors regarding the constraints on some challenges.
The last comment I have that could be a pro or a con is that the strategy for the game doesn’t feel too deep. You have limited control over your characters’ actions, and it’s not until the later levels that your direct actions (vs. character selection and leveling order) feel like they have meaningful impact on passing a given level. Overall it’s still worth the small price, so give the developer a little something for the hard work.
